Georgetown Lacrosse Names Adam fuhr head coach of high school program

July 23, 2026 - The Georgetown Area High School Lacrosse has named Adam Fuhr head coach of its high school program, opening the next chapter for one of Williamson County’s growing competitive sports programs.
Fuhr’s approach to coaching is rooted in long-term player development. He sees lacrosse as a vehicle for teaching discipline, accountability, resilience and leadership, with the goal of helping athletes grow well beyond the final whistle.
Fuhr’s lacrosse story started in Birmingham, Alabama, where he helped launch the sport as a player on Birmingham’s first youth lacrosse team as a seventh grader. He continued playing through high school and later competed at the collegiate club level for the University of Alabama at Birmingham, taking the field against top club programs across the Southeast.
His connection to youth lacrosse continued in Hickory, North Carolina, where he supported the Hickory Lacrosse Club as a parent and mentor. In 2014, Fuhr and his family of 7 relocated to Georgetown and immediately stepped into a coaching role to help build the local youth program.
Over the last 12 years, Fuhr has helped develop local talent, foster a love for the game and shape the future of lacrosse in Central Texas.
His impact also reaches well beyond Georgetown. In 2018, he was invited to play and coach with the FCA Men’s Development Team during the World Lacrosse Championships in Netanya, Israel. Over 10 days, he helped players from 22 developing lacrosse nations sharpen their skills before tournament play. In total, Fuhr has coached and trained more than 550 international athletes.
That international experience led to a three-year partnership with the Ukrainian national lacrosse program, where Fuhr organized and led youth and national team training camps to help establish program infrastructure and support the growth of the sport in Ukraine.
Now, he brings that same program-building mindset to Georgetown’s high school team.
Georgetown’s program is different by design. Players come from public, private, charter and homeschool families across the Georgetown ISD community. Once they step onto the field, school names disappear. They wear the same jersey, train under the same expectations and compete for the same program.
The program also sits in a rare lacrosse community. Georgetown Lacrosse serves players from first grade through high school, and its existing partnership with Southwestern University, the only Texas university currently fielding both NCAA men’s and women’s lacrosse programs, connects local athletes to college lacrosse in their own backyard. That local pathway gives players something tangible to see, pursue and believe is possible.
“Georgetown is different because this program gives athletes from across the community the chance to become teammates, not rivals,” Fuhr said. “That matters. My focus is to build a program where players are challenged, supported and held to a standard that helps them grow as athletes and individuals.”
Under Fuhr’s leadership, Georgetown Lacrosse will continue developing complete athletes through technical skill, lacrosse IQ, accountability, discipline and brotherhood.
“Adam understands what makes Georgetown different,” said Chris Sypniewski, president of Georgetown Lacrosse. “He has invested years into growing the game here, and his experience developing players locally and internationally makes him the right leader for where this program is headed.”
Fall and spring registration is open for high school, and fall development and tournament registration is open for the youth program. Athletes of every background, including those new to lacrosse, are encouraged to join.
